Books and Burlesque

  • Caveat (New York, NY) 21 A Clinton Street New York, NY, 10002 United States (map)

“If the show is sold out there will be a waiting list at the door

We are excited to celebrate Pride with graphic nonfiction, naughty novels, and sexy performers! Featuring authors reading excerpts from their new books: Wayne Koestenbaum "My Lover, The Rabbi" (novel), Grant Ginder "So Old, So Young" (novel), Perrin Roosevelt Ireland "Poking the Squid: What We Can Learn from Animal Sex," (nonfiction), Charlotte Brooks "The Moys of New York and Shanghai: One Family's Extraordinary Journey Through War and Revolution," and Denny, one of the contributors to "Both/And: Essays by Trans and Gender-Nonconforming Writers of Color -- A Moving Anthology Celebrating Joy, Heartbreak, and Self-Discovery," edited by Denne Michele Norris and Adam Morgan "A Danger to the Minds of Young Girls: Margaret C. Anderson, Book Bans, and the Fight to Modernize Literature" (biography).

Each author has been paired with a spectacular burlesque or drag performer who will create new acts inspired by the books they read! Starring Ceruleanna Blue, Michael Becker, and special guests. Produced and hosted by Fortune Cookie.

Our local bookstore partner, Book Club Bar (197 East 3rd Street) will be selling signed copies of all our featured authors' books.”
