Banff Graphic Novel Residency

In October 2025, I had the privilege of participating in the two week graphic novel residency at the Banff Centre for Art and Creativity in Canada’s Rocky Mountains to brainstorm insect comics. The residency faculty included Matt Madden, Rani (Bishakh) Som (my mentor at the residency!) and Tom Hart. The residency provided writers with the time and space to delve deep into our creative projects away from the constraints of everyday life, take advantage of an artistic community of peers, and consult with experienced faculty. I loved my mentoring cohort, Rani’s Manatees!
